We also felt that they’d guarantee our satisfaction. We always try to book our excursions via Carnival because we believed that they had been vetted by their knowledgeable and caring staff. I’m not sure if the workers were unfriendly or just didn’t speak English! Undercooked chicken and vegetables (I didn’t try the mystery meat). Explicit rap music playing on a loudspeaker. The Blue Lagoon was more like a Green Muddy River. Just to touch on a few of the low points…1. I’m extremely disappointed in their customer dis-service.

After multiple conversations, Carnival only offered a 50% refund, plus their lack of empathy added undue stress and even anger to my vacation. Rather than a day of relaxation, it turned into multiple days of stress for my wife and me. This was our 15th cruise and without question, this was our worst adventure ever. Knowing what I know now, I would not go on this excursion even if Carnival paid me $69.99 to go. The best part of the excursion was when we left to go back to the ship. Shame on Carnival for offering this completely deceitful excursion. Uchbenkah Blue Lagoon Carnival Excursion in Costa May, Mexico on Tuesday, Septem(Marti Gras).

Once outside of the main port shopping area it was a free for all with the vendors trying to pull you into their stores. This trip had us going to Costa Maya and Cozumel.

We did not venture outside the point so I cannot speak to security or other areas. Overall, I see a lot of potential for this port if the growth continues in the direction it appears to have taken to this point. A local vendor mart would have been great. Most everything we found came from China and could be found online if one wanted to get it. It appeared that some regulations might have been in place to keep vendors from being overly aggressive which made the shopping experience enjoyable vs the "Nassau experience"Ī downside to this experience is that local made items were hard to find. Overall we felt that the facilities were very good and a great deal of attention went into creating a place where cruisers could feel safe and still have an enjoyable time. This was our first stop at Costa Maya and we chose to just visit the port area. Therefore again, head to the Mahahual beach - it's 20 min walk or 10$ taxi ride. The cruise port doesn't have its beach, in fact I saw one from the ship but it seems it's not operational as there was noone there all the time. You have both of them (the pool and drinks) couple hundred meters away on your ship for free, and in the end, who desires a pool on Caribbean? So, head to the Mahahual beach. They have a big nice pool, but to use it you must purchase again inflated priced drinks. Considering shopping there the only bargain place is a Diamond center, where you can buy tax free jewelry and watches (the watch I bought in Miami was 20% cheaper here). You can find them double cheaper if you go to Mahahual beach.Ģ. But, the establishments set in them sell overpriced drinks, food, souvenirs and touristy stuff at inflated prices. The architecture is nice - it's kind a theme-park style houses in Mayan style set in a maze of little alleys. There are two positive things I can say about this port:ġ.

One of the guys said that if you get wet right away then the sand flies don't bother you.but if you lay on the beach with dry skin they get on you. I would recommend you take bug spray.since I did get bit by "sand flies", which itched the rest of my cruise. We did not spend money renting chairs and such. We spent our time with these two things and it was time to go back on board. There is some coral/brown areas, but it's a very nice beach you can swim in / snorkel and look at fish, etc. The beach has white sand and super clear water. In reality you can almost walk there.so you may want to consider walking back on the return if you want to save the return taxi fare. The cheaper taxis are $2 per person and can drive you to "Blue Caye Beach", which is what I would recommend. Once you leave the Costa Maya touristy area.and "pass" the first parking lot, you are able to exit and take taxis for half the price. We loved the views from the top too and were able to take amazing photos. We went to the Aviary for $12 per adult and $10 per child where they give you some food and you get to see many different type of birds (even an owl) through different sections of their net protected upper floor bird habitats. We went on a New Years Cruise a week ago and loved this stop.
